Hi peoples
I am very crazy…I am trying to paint and I had the first difficulty
and I am in it the times because simply the first painting process would be to place the colors but ja giving one forms 3D to the face.
Blocking for painting
Are you asking about blocking in initital lighting information, the general shapes, and basic color scheme? If so, it’s really just using large brushes of flat colors to do a very simplified version of what your image should look like, and once the simple blocked-in version looks fine, you can start to add details.
My difficulty is to blocking the nose. I try to make a cylinder as form. Below darker and above with an illumination
But never I leave satisfied
the mouth my problem is to refine with the risks of the lip.
You simply have to learn to analyze the shapes and break them down into smaller sections. Study people in real life, study sculptures, take photos of people from all different angles and lighting situations…etc. A great exercise is to buy a cheap head sculpture at an art supply store, then set it up in your room and try to draw/paint it in different lighting situations. This will train you to obeserve how different lighting angles will interact with the shapes that make up the nose, lips…etc.
yes, I soon will go to buy. ![]()
I tried to leave of a principle and to explain better what he happens. He sees the images:
image no adjust

image adjust bright and contrast

I do not know if the color is relation, but the image alone appeared adjustments really after. This left me encucada. It wanted to make a realistic painting on of this image.
Gisaiagami,
Maybe this tutorial will help you - in terms of basic blocking, the thing not to forget when painting is that the drawing is actually the most important. What Robert is talking about is absolutely true, you need to learn to break down major features in terms of their structure in order to effectively convey them. Check out this Tutorial (scroll down) and I hope it helps you:

I will go to try. But something curious. I have difficulty in monochromatic painting.
below some tests of simple refinement that I made:

I am start the exercise 1 in ps? or drawing?
You’re welcome.
You can start in either PS or traditional media - up to you. I think drawings that are scanned then painted tend to turn out better, it depends on the artist.
Looking forward to seeing your exercises.
Cheers,

i am start the exercie for link 1, but I do not know to the certainty if he is leaving as he had. I feel something strange in relation to this = /

Gisaiagami, heh, actually, the exercise I think you should try first is here:

Many thanks for the attention rebeccak
I confess that before initiating here it was with fear for depending on google to say your language. I thought that they would not answer me. It was been deceptive. still well :bounce::bounce::bounce:

Regarding grayscale to color painting, check out Steven Stahlberg’s excellent tutorial on the topic:

I already see this tutorial one that it is excellent
But I have attemped to paint in greyscale without much affinity Really everything that has make in greyscale is very difficult = Is as if o.O did not obtain to define the things
I think you shouldn’t take the human body as a rounded object.
treat it as cubic, and then round it by adding additional planes.
in drawing training, the very 1st step is the cube - it has 3 visible faces, wich covers shadows, midtones and highlights. if you understand these 3 principles, you can proceed to the rounded objects… cylinder and sphere.
once you’re mastering all these, the software becomes just a tool.
I would suggest to draw traditional for a while (pencils and paper), as long as some tablets are not so accurate and this can make a big difference.
cheers
Hi, Rebeccak! I’m a begginer, as you know. I’m painting a quick sketch in grayscale to colorize it later, like Steven says in his tut. But I have a question, surely stupid: the color work, in the color layer and with brushes set to color or hue, must be done in several layers, isn’t it? I mean, it’s like “repainting”, in someway? Well, I guess my question must be: Can you explain me more about de colorizing step?
Thanks a lot!
Regards!
Bless
PS: Oh, I can’t find Steven’s skin shader tut link. Can you give it to me…?
Sorry for my bad english
Blessing,
