Blending Techniques

#1

Hey everyone,
I have been reading alot and viewing alot of the artwork on these forums for awhile now but I just decided to sign up. I really hope I am not asking a question that has been asked millions of times before and I hope that I am posting in the most relavent forum that I could (didn’t really know where to post).

I am just wondering if someone can point me in the direction of a thread or website that can tell me some basic things about photoshop. I know alot about it when it comes to photo editing such as most of what the tools do and how to use layers etc but I can’t figure out how to smooth out an image that i am painting. I have read many tutorials but they all seem to say things like “in this stage I just smooth out some of the rough lines.” I really would like to know what tools are used to do this. Also, things about how I should set my pressure sensitivity would be very helpful as well.

If anyone could direct me to the right place to learn some of these basic techniques I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
XraySpeX

Hi, there are many, many techniques, in the link above from chnecktor furiae ak. linda bergkvist showes 3 popular, but wich one to use, you need to get experience. In some cases it is better to use the soft round brush method (i do it often, if I paint large skin shading, like the dark part of the arm ecc.).

There are also people who use the gaussian blur to blur out hard parts. If you do so, you need to watch that you paint the things to blur on a seperate layer and keep in mind, that’s gonna expand the area with a soft border.

cheers
