i can import .dfx .obj .fbx .and ply
i am thinking on modelling and texturing in blender and export both the texture and geometry for Houdini

ok i am really fallen for blender as a tool but one last thing does fbx export/import armatures to for animations :
Yes bones/armature is supported, but fbx is only an export option,
that is because it’s done trough ASCII, no binary/bytecode export,
that is to say blender doesn’t currently use the autodesk fbx framework.
The reason for that is that blender’s gpl license means it can’t be bundled with blender,
although the export script could and it could always be noted on the download page
that you need to get the framework from autodesk’s homepage.
There has been some discussion on doing the later, but no decision yet.
