Blender or cinema 4d what to learn first

#1

hi

i am working in maya for many years now, and now when i lost my job because of stupid covid-19 and its a kind of blessing in disguise as i have more free time , so i decided to use my time to learn new skills.

cinema 4d and blender both are amazing softwares and i am planning to learn both but i am confused.

should i learn both at the same time (giving equally time to both of them) or should i learn one software first then start with another?..

i need your advice people…

Between the two, I’d choose Blender. It’s becoming obvious how much companies are starting to invest R&D money into it and know it’ll be a sound investment for them that is available to everyone, won’t go bankrupt, and won’t get bought out and killed. It’s becoming a dumping ground for various GPU technologies

First of all, what was your speciality or job? If you were in FX, Blender doesnt have much to add to your arsenal, C4D have xparticles for that, but Houdini is were you should go.

If its modeling you will gain a lot speed using it ( if you werent using scripts in Maya ). For freelancing is great, but it all depends of your knowledge and field of work.

If you are looking for job in Broadcast -wich Covid shouldnt hit hard, as many of us are watching news- then you are more likely to be asked to work with Cinema 4D.

It all depends on your country and your knowledge.

luisRiera and sentry66 thanks for your advice :).

mostly my work was related to automotive animations / Technical animations.

now i am looking to add motion graphics , product visualization in to my skillset.

and after seeing and reading on net i realize that lots of them are using cinema 4d and after seeing some videos it seems cinema4d is easy to learn.

i am from India and here company dosnt want to spend money, that is why blender is starting to pop up everywhere because its free.

Everyday i am giving two hours to both of them.

hope fully after one month i may b able to create something or can say that i know cinema4d and blender
