blender equivalent to max weld tool

im trying to complete the joan of arc modeling tutorial for max, however in serveral instance through the guide i need to weld or merge faces. how can i do this in blender without making a mess of my model

Use Alt+M (merge) and click “centre” to weld two vertices to a point equidistant from both.

that didnt work, it changes the vertex alignment. see the image

Blender doesn’t yet support Ngons so it doesn’t possible, once Bmesh has replaced the current editmesh system then it’ll be possible, until then, well it’s not possible.

sigh thanks, trying a work around. a lot more work but i hope it gives the result im hoping for

The image… it’s the Joana D’arc tutorial?

You don’t need to close that region. Go with the extrudes and leave the faces as a hole until the wrists. It’s the same for the neck.
