Blender Alpha2 rigging problem

#1

hi everybody i’m working on a little rig and i had two little problems

first

it’s like a “puppet” rig so i don’t need deformation so i parented the different shapes to the bones, it works fine the only problem is that it lags,
until i’m moving the controller the geometry doesn’t move

when i release the controller the geometry pop up in the right place

second problem

i m following the tutorial “Rig an alien” on blender cookie

the problem is that when i switch on the “follow rotation " for the ball/tarsal” ik i have a little pop

any idea ??

thank s guy see ya

As you have a couple of possibly unrelated issues, I would suggest uploading the file for others to troubleshoot, if you can.

I’d be happy to check it out for you …

Thanks so much! Here’s the file!

#4

Any suggestions?

So sorry about that! … I forgot I hadn’t replied here after checking the file a couple of days ago.

I couldn’t figure out what is causing these issues - my suspects were all innocent.

Maybe try posting this over at the BlenderArtists forums? There’s generally a lot more activity there than in the Blender forum here on CGS.

The first problem, uncheck “delay refresh”

Haven’t looked into the second problem yet, will post here again if I find a solution.

#8

I messed around with the influence settings (tried with lower it), however I am not that good with rigging stuff so I am not sure how much of value the influence setting has, lol.
I learned a lot though just looking at your rigg.

Otherwise I am suspecting that the “Ball.Rev” is not centered, couldn’t edit it though… Maybe that because its assigned to the ik…?
Had similar problems with follow path once.
