Blender 2.59 crashing with SpaceNavigator

#1

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem? We just got a SpaceNavigator 3D mouse from 3DConnexion. Blender 2.59 was running fine until I installed the drivers for the SpaceNavigator (Mac OSX). Now, Blender crashes on launch every single time. I’m using the official build from the main Blender.org website. Uninstalling the drivers got Blender to run again.

I find this strange since 2.59 is supposed to be the first version to officially support the 3D mouse. Has anyone gotten 2.59 and the SpaceNavigator to work together on Mac OSX?

You aren’t the first person I’ve heard saying they have problems with this on Mac.

Unfortunately I’m on Win and can’t give you anything but moral support.

I’ve not tried it with 2.59 but Blender 2.49 was the last version that worked with the 3dmouse and I also got constant crashes then (OSX).The 3DConnexion driver always showed up in the error report, uninstalled and the crashes went away.

I found the solution. After posting the bug report on the Blender website I found that we should actually use the Beta 4 drivers. The official driver on the 3DConnexion causes crashes. The Beta drivers have worked fine so far.

Same here. No problems since finding a post that instructed me to install the new Beta drivers from 3dconnexion.

[edit] In my setup there is no lateral or vertical movement support (push controller left and right, pull controller up and down). I’d be interested in hearing what your support is like.[edit]
