Blend 2 POV: Help

#1

Am I missing something or is it just not available?

I installed POV-RAY, switched to the POV-RAY renderer after turning on the add on, tweaked a few settings and Bam I have a nice image but, none of my textures carried over, it was just the base materials.

I have been reading up on as much outdated information that I could find but the only reference I see is in the blender wiki for actually writing the POV code for custom textures. Does the blend2pov actually work with the textures, and I am doing something wrong? Or are we suppose to learn to code in POV-ray if we want anything more than basic materials?

I use Blender from years, and I used POV before (a long time ago). Never tried to let them work together. Why do you want to do it? It’s way easier to obtain good results with the internal render or, say, Yafaray. Sorry I can’t help:shrug:

I was just wanting to see the results outside of the internal renderer.

I also tried yafaray and the issue I had there was with no support for the color ramp on textures.

I was looming at lux ray, but that requires you to just export models and lighting then set your materials there.

I was mainly looking for something with true GI to test out.

Luxrender is good, but be prepared to geological render times (as always with physically accurate engines).
Now I understand your intention. Too bad that Vray is not yet at production level, when used in Blender.

Think I will give Luxrender a try and see what type of results I can get. Been watching a few tuts on it from blender cookie and it seems to have some pretty decent results.

Well lux render is really nice. I like the interface and the integration in blender. The lights on the fly while rendering is amazing when you set up your light groups right. But, wow there are a lot of features it is going to take some time to figure it all out. There are some pretty good tutorials out there for it though.
