Black and white music-animation

#1

Hi, I’m working on a 3D animation for my friend, a music video. I would like to achieve and black and white animation, in a kind of rough cartoonist style, with blender. You can find a part of the storyboard in this gallery http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/343141/1/sommarcykel?h=7cde6e . The storyboard, might be a bit edgy, some shapes could be smother, but I just want to have it black and white.

I’m not sure if 3D animation is the correct option, because a lot of it will be render as 2D, but still there will be some camera fly movements like rotation and following some cyclists on a road.

I have some render samples of a building, uploaded on vimeo,

I don’t really feel that I’m controlling the composition(look how the shadow is changing depending on the view), which I think is bad

I’ve played around with Blender’s composition editor and found that I could use the objects normal to create a cartoonist style. I also added edge, the post processing option in blender.

I have tried to achieve a XOR/Invert effect by playing around with the math nodes, but I don’t get it work right now, I seem to not work as. The effect I would like to achieve is like White over white goes black and black over black goes white. If white over black or the other way around it will go back to the overlaying color. The head is doing almost right, then I’ve got some problem with anti aliasing, can I render a bigger image without anti aliasing and scale it down to get a smother effect?

This is so far I have come, what do you think, it’s better than the other?
