Hey everyone,
I ran into a little issue today. I wanted to create a rig with realistic moving parts, and thought of using Biped to achieve this (since I wanted to use some motion capture files easily). So I went ahead and created a point helper, to which I’ve applied a spring controller, then linked it to the head bone. Then I’ve created an Xtra bone with the head bone as its parent, positioned it, turned on the Biped’s SubAnim and SubAnim manipulation, and applied a LookAt constraint pointing to the helper.
Now when I try to animate any part of the biped (specifically the head, naturally, to test the constraint), 3ds max crashes.
This method works perfectly fine with normal bones, so I can’t figure out what’s causing this. The LookAt constraint also works fine as long as the helper isn’t assigned a spring controller. The same happens even if the bone isn’t an Xtra.
I’m using 3ds Max 2011, though I’ve tested it on 2013 and the same thing happens.
Anyone have any thoughts/workarounds? I’m stumped…
