BIFROST questions and liquid workflow in movie production.

#1

Greetings Everybody. I have a few short questions about BIFROST and fluid liquid workflow in some big movie production.

  1. Can BIFROST creates large scale simualtion just like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SALG_JkVenA

  2. And if that video showreel had not created in Maya bifrost…so what softwares or plugins can do that?

Im so new to liquid simualation. Thanks everybody.

it can if you are able todo that…
doing fluids like that is a lot of work… nothing you can do in one week…

houdini would be an option…

and scanline does use its inhouse solution…

And keep in mind that you need lots of resources to do large scale liquid sims. First you need to do the simulation what takes a quite long time and a lot of ram. Then you need to store the simulation data. Next, depending on your workflow, you have to convert the sim into meshes what will take a lot of space as well. Then you will have to create secondary elements like spray, bubbles or foam. Depending on the setup you will need again a lot of memory and disk space.

And I agree, bifröst can do large simulations now as you can see in a lot of videos. Have a look at Igors vimeo channel: https://vimeo.com/igorzanic

to get a feeling about how much data you are going to create you could testdrive some of the example files coming with maya…

Thank you guys for helping me. Yeah, now i have decided to stick with BIFROST after watching all these videos, have no doubt about it anymore.
I have 64gb RAM for sim but i think i have to upgrade my HDD for all of this. Thank you guys again, god blessed you!!
