best monitor under 500$

I’m looking for a good monitor for photo editing, photography, and digital painting, 3D work

If you read the product descriptions, you’ll see why I’d lean toward getting the Monoprice monitor since it appears to be the best bang for the buck.

The 27" low res ones sound great for gaming etc, but Im not sure id want to use one for productivity work, theyre a bit low res.

All of them should work well with a screen calibrator. Propaganda from monitor manufacturers claim that IPS monitors offer better color accuracy than the more common TN monitors, so take that with a grain of salt, if you will…

TN monitors are horrible compared to IPS panels, regardless of colour accuracy Id go for an IPS just for the visual quality.

Just to add a bit more weight to imashination’s reply, in this case it’s not false advertising. IPS panel are significantly superior in all aspects to TN panels. The drawbacks that early generation IPS had, like slow response time, have been dealt with in the recent offerings and prices have dramatically come down since I bought my 24" Nec 4 years ago, which I paid $1500 for and was one of the very few second generation IPS model available back then.
