Bending/Displacing Volumetric Light

#1

Just curious to see if anyon ever tried this or could itfire off some ideas.

I am using some of the volumetric presets for lights. Easy enough, right but has anyone every tried to bend or distort them, like a waverly effect when a car drrives by at night and hits a curve…
The kaneda effect in Akira?
able to use liquify in Afrer Effects but i was wonder could this come out of LW

man I wish you could put bones in a light or deform using an dispacement.

Curious enough …there is the node editor in the volumetric tab…hmmmmmmmmmmm

Thanks for the lin but what I am trying to do is take advantage of the volumtric presets int he light panel.
They really render fast in sprite mode and just wanted to se if anyone knew any specila, special tricks to defer the straight line.

doubt it,…
like coremi implies you most likely will have to use a way to fake the effect.

either like in the link,
or with a post process method,
alternatively this might work,

…other thatn that, nope, don’t think there is a way

I guess the best way is to pre render them dead on at high res and then map them on to polys

Thanks everyone

…this idea might work at times, but often takes too much time,
using glass or other effects like for example afterburn to make a distortion,

this ol’ thread shows some examples,
