quite forgot…

Hogarth stuff:

eyelids - the upper one protrudes more than the lower one…

eyelids again - also, the lowest point of the lower lid is not directly below the highest point of the upper lid. This should be kept in mind to avoid perfectly symmetrical (and therefore wrong) lid layout.

(the scribbling in the lower right corner is where I was pondering Painter IX’s 2Bpencil while sketching with a real live one and the various line qualities you get from a normal pencil and how to translate this into digital, along with paper texture and all. To cut it short: don’t look there… )

#902

Mu, that kicking boy sketch tells such a story in so few lines - so much character and action there.

Same with the girl looking up at her spinning thing.

#903

oh, and here is a little birdie…

and if you turn it round you get

a crappy face…! :scream:

crickets chriping
tumbleweed rolls by

oh well…

just go on everyone…

EDIT: thanks so much YMS…

Mu: LOL That’s a funny one, to relax a little!!

Very nice studies everyone!!

oh kay…lets get this started…shall we… hello there @–}--everyone…
Im not sure where to begin… and sadly…im to tired to be able to fully explain myself…

I’ve been drawing ever since I was little, from elementary school and to high school. When I was in high school, i was influenced by anime. But even before then I was fascinated with animation. I loved anime mostly because of how far they took telling a story in so many forms.
So with that fascination. I began to draw, draw more and more… just to putting the ideas i had in my head onto the picture…i still even have some old art to show… what i used to do…(and yes i suffered from the drawing the big head small body syndrome) lol :3
-------------
I’ve always wanted to become an artist…and illustrator… My father drew…and my mother drew as well… but chose different paths (nursing field)… Hence you can imagine… what happened to me…
to make a long story short… I didnt follow my true nature…even though I wanted to pursue it…I didnt… chose computer science instead… (Im over that now)
But I didnt want to deny being the artist in me… Cause to see ebautiful art work…and wanting to be part of the world…
They’re were alot of lessons I had to learn…
Even during the time i was in high school till college… i didnt draw as much as i wanted to… which effected me very emotionally… I was very focused on drawing the perfect picture of what ever idea of my head… hence… no art was ever made. My friends from ecau (East Coast Artist Unite)… would literally force me to sit down…and draw something from life…and in my own head… i didnt want to… didnt see the point of it…

I dont remeber when…and how… but… one day I had an epiphany… if i dont do this… its going to be the biggest regret in my life. I wanted to draw …create…express myself…on a peice of paper… but how can if i dont know the way… The reason why… i cant create is because i lack knowledge in certain things…I was never taught the correct way of doing something to be able to do something right…
so…here i am on my quest…
So i have been studying anatomy from loomis… and read and did some exercises from drawing on the right side of the brain (highly recommened…)
I know… i need a plan…of where to start… so i just drew these pictures…with out using any references… just using what ive learned…from past years till now…
The hardest part for me… is when I want to create a picture(project) like a girl dancing in the rain… i dont do it…because i know if i go through it im gonna not like the end result…cause of my lack of knowledge…

So..for anyone who takes they're time reading this..thank you @--}-----

MrsB,

No problem! I can understand time constraints, it will be good to see work here as you can. Thank you for posting your pieces! I think you might enjoy trying the exercises posted to the first 2 posts of this thread. Post your results here when you can!

2dartist,

These sketches are looking great, just keep going with them! Fill a sketchbook or two, you will be amazed as your confidence grows.

Mu,

Good to see your studies, both the outdoor and the Hogarth images are looking good. Just keep drawing, I think the Hogarth studies in particular will stand you in good stead.

Lute,

Welcome aboard! I have replied to your other thread, take a look there.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

40 min picture reference

#909

well I was gonna post this last night but the site was undergoing maintenance or something. Anyways, I did some more heads from Dynamic Figure Drawing. I erased a bit this time. Some of the heads aren’t quite right but I think overall they came out ok. I’m still not happy with my shading though :stuck_out_tongue:

#910

very kewl head study. i love that you have done all angles. good work. i think your shading came out alright. it definitly gives the viewer a sense of depth and angle.

#911

Thanks, MrsB. I never really did much crosshatching. I’m just doing it now because that’s what the reference uses. I just need to keep practicing shading in general though.

#912

ok enough with the heads hehe. On to some torso studies…

#913

again you did well with the shading and i like the good strong lines you use. lol…and i agree that “some dude” has “funny legs”. but still looks ok.

#914

haha yea the funky leg monster got em! Here’s hoping he won’t have to turn up again for any other funky parts :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks again for your comments MrsB. Always good to hear some feedback.

[left]Hi guys! Good to see more work being posted here!

MrsB,

Looking forward to seeing your exercises!

A-I-R,

Looking good, are you working from reference? And if so, can you post it?

Here is a review, I hope it helps:

[left]gnoway,

I think your sketches are looking great! I think that if you are going to continue to do lots of sketches like these, you might consider creating your own Anatomy Thread, here:

Personal Anatomy & Sketchbook Threads
http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=200

See this thread for information about creating a personal Anatomy Thread first:
FAQ: Can I Create My Own Anatomy Thread?

Links to all Personal Anatomy Threads can be found here:

Keep up the great work!

Cheers,

gnoway: Great studies

Rebeccak: Thanks for correction, I feel honored
this it’s reference

#917

Rebeccak,

Thanks. I will make an anatomy thread soon. Should I stop posting these here and just put my studies there only?

A-I-R,

Thank you, yours are looking good as well! I like the skulls, I need to work on that myself. Good to understand the underlying structure. Keep it up, can’t wait to see some more from you.

#918

A-I-R,

These studies are looking good, please do more of them! You are free to create your own Anatomy Thread as well, if you choose. Anyone may do so.

gnoway,

You are welcome to post to both places, or only to your Anatomy Thread if you choose. Up to you.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak
