[Beginner Question] About modeling Anime Characters

#1

Well now about what i’ve seen I’m confused on which program i should use to model with i mean

I’m using Autodesk Maya and it’s quiet good but i have seen some ppl doing the models in Zbrush and Retopoly it so here is the question

In Animation Field like pixar, bluesky, disney and dreamworks studios does they make their models the same way? Just curious…

Different studios handle it differently. At least for main characters, Pixar (at least as of Toy Story 3) does most of its design on physical sculpts, and normally uses standard poly-modeling to get it into the computer. Disney uses ZBrush pretty heavily, and iterates quite a bit in 3D. Not sure about Blue Sky or Dreamworks.

I’d definitely recommend trying both. My personal experience is that it’s easier to work in Maya if you have very clearly defined concept art, and easier to use ZBrush if you’re designing as you go.

So what you are saying if im good with maya i don’t have to use Zbrush?

Do what you like and whatever works. There’s no law about how to achieve a result, especially not on personal projects.

I’m talking about which easier way and the most way being used in most of studios…
