i want to try using xsibatch to render a few scenes overnight.
what command would i need to type into the command prompt in order to get XSI to load and render a few scenes?

Usually I used the && command to execute an array of render jobs when I was Maya batch rendering. But I assume that this command also works in the xsi console.
So you would type something like this:
xsibatch -render folder/scene_a.scn && xsibatch -render folder/scene_b.scn
