Hello guy’s!
I’ve done another personal work which I called Bat vallley, because of alot of huge rocks with caverns. I am thinking to do an animation. To pass to my friend Samat (good animator) and do some good animation of bats coming from behind the camera and fly away through rocks etc.
we’ll see. Anyway as I’ve been saying I am looking to do more concet work, but it was automaticaly…I seat on my chair and start to draw and I change to do matte painting…!
that was funny
Thank you for all c&c!

Bat valley MATTE.
I think this is a pretty good work, i particularly like the integration of the sky and hills in the background. I think the part that could be improved is the transition from foreground to background, at the moment there’s a fairly obvious sharp line for the edge of the foreground rocks. They also seem a bit flat and plane-like.
I think the background is great, it’s just the foreground that needs some work, but that’s some cool stone structures you’ve created there.
I hope you don’t mind the criticism especially considering that I have no credibility to be telling a matte painter what to do. Be that as it my, here are some comments:
Beautiful painting technique. The rocky buildings are really great and match the scale pretty closely which I would imagine would be pretty hard in a case like this where you have such a long depth of field.
I think some attention needs to be paid to matching the blur of the original image. The buildings look really cool but they don’t sit in the scene very well. Instead, they stand out to much. I would imagine that it would be pretty nerve wracking to have to blur up something that you spent so much time painting details into but it’s just to clean and stands out to much.
The water, while I really like the reflections, doesn’t seem match the actual water just above it very well. (at least, I think that’s real water :D) There is a very subtle dappling effect in the real water that doesn’t exists in the painted in water.
In some places, where the shore meets the water, there is a lighter edge between the water and bank. It feels like this should actually be darker to simulate the wet ground/sand.
All those critiques aside, it’s a beautiful image.
Thanks for your comments guy’s!
Glazyrin - Thanks man!
TomasWarren - about the transition-that’s good point Tomas, I left one layer hide with haze
well sometimes happen.
ngrava - any crit. is good for me. That’s okay, it make me to do work better! Thanks. About reflections/water…in that back one is wind going on and on the foreground I wanted to do it more clam. But very good point…I like it. And about the places whre water meet ground-I know, but in that place I just paint very quickly the rocks. But if I check it out on the full high res (6k) I can see these guy’s and you’re right
haha.
Thanks guy’s!
cool work dude.
link to my first matte paint.comments are welcome and i seriously need’em
Hey man , i agree with the comments above. If you are going to have the bg blurred you should also have the rocks blurred as well.
rohit: if your going to post in other peoples threads , it should not be to advertise your own work
i thought it will good to share my work(as i am new to this matte paint world)and get guidelines from people who are really passionate.i wrote “comments welcome(and needed)”.
but anyways. thnx. your work is awesome.you rock.i will be more cautious from now while posting.
Thank you guy’s!
Matellis - yes, that’s good point, you’re right about that blur
Thanks man.
Volumelight - that’s okay. On your thread is something I point
