Basic Question about Maya 2018 Layers PLEASE help!

Hey guys,

What would seem like a very, very, very simple task, has left me completely stuck for answers today, and even asking multiple professional artists, I’m still lost for an answer. Massive respect to anyone that can help solve this problem…

  • I have added objects to a layer
  • Clicking the V will make the objects Visual turn off, therefore making the objects invisible. (This is working correctly)
  • Clicking the T however, SHOULD make turn on template mode, however nothing happens ???

Why or what could prevent template mode from working in the layers, but the V works fine?

If it helps, TEMPLATE does work with other objects, it’s just this specific character I have, whose mesh I’m trying to template with the layers.

In the shape node of the object, expand the “Object Display > Drawing Overrides” rollouts and see if the “Enable Overrides” box is checked. If so, then whatever “Display Type” is selected under it will be overriding the display layer mode.
