Basic Combustion Help Please

#1

I’m very new to Combustion. I’m trying to animate one of the pre-made particle sets, (heavy explosion), that comes with Combustion along a path. For some reason, when I turn on animate, move the emitter to where I want it, move aheads, do the same, and complete my path. Turn off animate, but I cant get the particles to move at the same rate as the emitter. I dont think they move at all actually. I would use the Attach To Emitter option, but its blacked out and is not an option. I’ve tried doing the above by starting a new workspace, a 2D composite, a 3D composite. I’m totally stuck. Any help greatly appreciated.

In a nutshell, you need to expand the HEAVY EXPLOSION in the Workspace tab to see the components that comprise the heavy explosion. Under there, you will see “copy of phoop”, “phoop” etc. When you select each of those, in the Particle Control tab, in Particles, you can now select “Attach to Emitter” and it will follow.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the help Martin. Like I said, I’m very new to Combusion. Only used it twice before. I’m at home now, but will check it out first thing in the morning. Advice appreciated very much.

Still no joy with this. I have read how to add emitters in the help files, and in the book. I follow it to the letter. I have no option to edit the actual particle, only the emitter. I cant see any options at all to edit the actual particles themself. Under ‘Particle Controls’, Particles and Behavior options are all greyed/blacked out. I’m seriously missing something, or my C3 is way screwed up… :frowning:

From the help files ; “NOTE: The Particles controls (and the Behaviour controls) are not available when a particle type is not selected in the Workspace panel.”

Okay, thats fine. I can select the emitter. How do I select the particles? I can select Particles in the Workspace panel so its active. And still, Particles and Behaviour under the Particle Controls tab are all blacked out.

I have also read how to Attach an Emitter, but I still dont have that option available…

Managed to get it done the way you suggested Martin by attaching every little loop to the emitter. I dont even know how I enabled it, must have fluked it. Seems like a long winded way of doing it, and I’m surprised there isn’t an easier way. Ah well, done now, guess I’ll move on to the next hurdle…
