I did a search but didn’t find anything, if I’m missing an existing thread my apologies.
I have to sort out the right way to do an effect. I have rain drops hitting the top of an umbrella, then going down the surface and dripping off. What I want to do is have an animated trail behind them to use as a mask to drive a blend material so I can make the surface wet. I’d like it to be animated, so it ‘dries’ after a second or two.
I came across a great little plugin called "particle paint’ by Peter Watje, and it seems to do everything I need except blend the trails together. So I get something like this rather then a blended frames version. (This is a simple example, so a directional blur won’t work on the real thing)
So my question is this: Is there a better way? How can I blend these dots together on bake? Or… maybe with after effects?
Thank you for any help you can give.
