Background Image problems

#1

I’m having a few problems with simple background images. The main problem is with continuing projects after having closed Modo.

  1. I set up a backgroud image, model, then exit. Upon relaunching Modo, the BG is in the clean launch of the software.

  2. If I re-import my working .lwo object, the background disappears and I’m forced to reload and set up my BG …again …each time.

I believe the problem is inherent of Modo not having it’s own custom working file to store settings for a current project. (Similar to Photoshop’s .PSD format, Or Maya’s .MB) The only thing you can save as (other than export) is an .LWO file. Does anyone know if there are plans for Modo to come out with their own format? …maybe a .MDO file format?

In the mean time. Is there a work around? Other than leaving Modo running 24/7?

thanks guys.

What you need to do first is setup your background images the way you like.
Once you have done that, go up to upper left corner of any viewport (the little circle) and R-click on it and go to “Save Viewport Group As…” and just put a name in that will remind you what the images are.
Now you will load your model and then go up to upper right corner of any viewport (the little triangle) click on it and select the name you put in for your images you just saved. The background images will load up. Anytime you make a change to any of the background images you will need to re-save them.

…you can allways hit RESTORE under layout once you saved your setting-very helpful when you lose your image AFTER you saved it.

Thanks for the reply guys. Although, it’s still a bit of a PITA…it’s better than having to set up BG’s every time you launch modo. Appreciate it!

If I want to remove the viewport group set that I created before, how should I do?
