The overall idea is that starfishes are taking over and I am going to show the moment the hidden lair of the sinister starfish monsters is discovered… yay…here the Concept/pre-viz milestone have fun

#3

just the cave, without the charcters

#4

The characters are added to the scene, and I am by now fleshing out deatils since the lighting seems mostly correct to me the next steps will be to decide how to achive this old TV show look and of course the crappy Special effects that make the original B-movies so adoreable ^^

Also i will have to ad manny manny more details.

#5

Nice start. The mood seems pretty good so far. Looking forward to seeing more!

#6

thank you, I think catching the mood is exactly the thing I hope to achive, since the classic B-movies have a verry specific kind of mood and feeling to them…

#7

And another one, i think i just overdid the lighting a bit, but since i decided to keep it black and white in honor of the Movies… well i think it is the right direction…

The Cthulhu -esque feeling that came to me while painting seems to fit the topic of strange things from the depth of the ocean verry well i suppose…

On my personal list this is the 10th step of evolution of this Painting, even if i do not win annything i suppose the patience I gained from this will be verry, verry helpfull on future Projects.

I am working on a dangerous look to this picture, one the really envokes claustrophobia and the classical yieks! caused by oozing tentacles… just watched Dagon, and well deep see based monsters scare me at least a tiny bit everytime I see them ^^…

I hope I can encourage You to Comment on this one, so that i can flesh out more details, and if someone of you does have some ideas how to increase the old 70s black and white movie look, feel free to comment. i would also be happy if you spot major mistakes and tell me where they are so that i can get rid of them.

thank you

And another Version

Software: Photoshop

The Horror! The Scare!

Well this is my final Upload, the Final Stage of the Starfish Bodysnatchers projekt ( I restarted it several times in the early stages- but finally I got the Feeling of the first Pencils and the Photoshop Sketch, and worked on it)
The first Major decision was to keep the painting in grayskale, so that there would be more of the classic 70s B-Movie feel, I intended to capture an on screen scene instead of the often used Poster Motiv.

After finishing the Grayscale immage I thought it was to clean and so I turned to this stained Filmmaterial style I used on the final Immage, I experimented with brushes and Layer - options in photoshop CS2 to achieve it.

The Storry is that Starfishes, this vicious creatures from the dark deaps down in the oceans, who feed on innocent school swimm teams at the american coast eaven impersonating them by taking over their Bodys from within.

The Swimmteacher and the big Sister of one of the victims start to investigate.

Just to find the Masterstar in one of the caves that reach from the sea to the swimming hall of their school.
