edit: wrong post. Instead of posting it in submit entry I posted it directly in this thread :argh: *sigh( what a newbie!!

****Finally, I can start working on this project. :applause: My system just caught a nasty virus last week and I have to completely reformat my 2 hard disk and install new OS. Anyway, I hope I’m not that late. It’s is my first time in joining this kind of event and I hope I have fun in here.

(Hmmm… Is there an upload image here?) Anyway, this is the concept of my b-movie project. A water-type monster similar from the black lagoon, missing link and a beautiful human girl.

This would be the scene that I’m trying to create. The monster is dying because of the people that are trying to kill him but this certain girl have a soft heart and sees the “goodness” in the monster.

I will start modeling the characters soonest possible once I installed the applications needed for this project.

P.S. sorry for my drawings. I don’t have any talent for that :arteest:

thanks

I decided to change my idea from lizard monster into giant jellyfish because there are many lizard monsters already in this contest and besides giant monsters attacking the city are way cooler. The idea of giant jellyfish came when I was watching a re-run of spongebob squarepants where he is in the jellyfish field trying to catch the giant jellyfish and it’s very hilarious.

Done in inkscape and gimp. I can’t really paint that’s why it looks like this hehehe even the lighting and the shadowing is all wrong. Next stop would be modeling stage for me. thanks.

#6

I’ve started modeling the giant Jellyfish monster. It’s a very simple model. From uvsphere then grab, extrude and do some little sculpting for the head.

#7

started modeling the lil jellies.

Another Blender user! Yay!

A friend told me if you want to get your hands dirty with 3D then start with Blender. ever since then I’m still usingg Blender!. 3D Max Rocks but I still use Blender to make my basic Meshes and other things.

Good luck my Friend!

I like your sketch and characters are very interesting. good luck to you.

@Aven99: Your a blender user too?! yay! :applause: I’m glad to know that I’m not alone in here in this ‘big boys’ world.

@Lizhu: Thanks alot! It’s very encouraging. Good luck to you too. Your entry is awesome.

I’ve been working on this girl for 2 days but still lots of things to do (hair particles, clothes, rigging). Need to double time. the clock is ticking.

#12

Blender!!! I’m not a regular blender user, but i will try to learn more deeply the new 2.5 version for the next CGChallenge. I’m glad to see more users of this amazing software. Nice concept, jellyfishs are really one of the most dangerous animals on earth, hahaha.

#13

Hehehe Blender nice .
Good luck

#14

cute girl, good luck to you.

I’ve spent weeks doing the jelly shader and some for other characters. I can’t nail the jelly shader that I want. Even until now I’m not satisfied with how it looks. The jellyfish looks like a gummi-candy.

Only 19 days left. gotta hurry! I’m gonna post some test render of the other characters later.

Happy blending!

#16

I did some shaders for the characters. No hair yet.

Hey Terence,

Cool concept, like the idea a lot. And really nice models. The character designs look great, cool cartoon style on them.
Looking forward for more updates. Cheers!!

After a failed gamma-nuclear experiment in the open waters of Pacific ocean, thousands of jellyfish were seen swarming in the seashore. Marine biologist explained that these were only caused by a climate change. But then a giant jellyfish came after and begins terrorizing the big city. It destroy everything in its way with its monstrous size and poisonous tentacles.
