Peter Prabowo is entered in the “B-Movie” update: View Challenge Page

Latest Update: Work In Progress: forgot one more option

First idea. Inspired by Evil Dead and Deep Rising. An action guy rescuing 2-3 hot girls from attack of the tentacle creatures that wreck their ship.
(there’s a torn sail in this wrecked ship/raft image though it’s supposed to be modern setting. Still not sure how I’ll do this)

Also not sure if the image is too dynamic for a B movie poster/scene. What do you think? Suggestions are welcome.

Thank you
Peter

I like the layout and the camera angle. Very dynamic!
Good stuff!

#4

For some reason, Evil Dead was the very first thing that came to mind…It must be something to do with the composition, great start ;).

Great composition, even the thumbnail in the main gallery looks good, and I like their poses too, even if they are just 4 blobs of paint for the moment… the only thing that I dont like so much is the sail, but I may change my opinion as the concept evolves

#6

Love the style and the dynamism of the concept, very cool!

#7

Color test. I made the sky and sea burning after the ship is destroyed by the tentacles. The fire also act as the main lighting. I also removed the sail.
Please tell me what you think.

JRGauthier: Thank you
LightSovereign: Yup, Evil Dead 3 poster is the major inspiration ^^
elmasfeo: Thanks. Agree about the sail. I’ve removed it this time ^^
Paperboy: Thank you very much!

#9

Great colours this time round, peter. looking strong and quite complex

#10

Looks great. Just a suggestion in the spiritof the classic B-movie, maybe have a scantily clad girl entangled in one of the tentacles. Have it holding her by the face as she flails in midair.

#11

Awesome concept - Very Duke Nukem meets John Carter of Mars.

#12

Cool mix of various B-movies…I especially like the composition of your image…the color usage is great too.

#13

Sorry, been busy. Not much of an update yet. Testing the composition if there’s a girl dragged by the tentacles.
I’m still designing alternatives for the tentacles look, make some perspective guidelines and browse some reference pictures for the characters… bikini models yay!

ah… ahem…

Please tell me if that addition is good or bad. See you later ^^

#14

Thank you so much everyone ^^
@SantoAnderson: I actually didn’t know about John Carter of Mars until you mention it. I browsed some artworks and went fanboy “squeeeee” at the quality XD
@LordKeith: I tried your suggestion. Please tell me if it makes it better. I guess it made it less symmetrical. The position of the tentacles previously have been less varied in movement

#17

wow! amazing work!

#18

I like BW sketch - black tentacle just fine! Like the colors too (but dont do tentacle strongly green :)).

Sorry for bad english

#19

Pegahoul - Love this piece, it has action, good composition and is very fun!

Defining some of the character’s features a bit. I’m gonna try different looks, hair and clothes as I go, but the simple t-shirt and jeans on the guy and the green and red bikini on the 2 girls will stay.
