Thank you very much, Yongkiat, appreciated:wavey:

a little to peaceful slaps forehead…found that an additional claw made the image too busy…may play around with the boats angle, make it more like the original…and once this is finished i think i better go back to the drawing board and get an image more akin to a b movie…

#23

Better

#24

good luck !

#25

water tank aesthetic starting to flare up :P…

Thank you KIDI

Marley,

Awesome colours and lighting as usual.

I reckon classic “B” grade movie stuff just means crap plot (read ridiculous) and cheap or simple props…its got nothing to do with being something from the 50s or 60s - proof of that: look in the local video store…surely you would call something like Universal Soldier II a “b” grade movie?

Best of luck!

#27

That’s an amazing critter you’ve created there, and I can hardly wait to see it come together. I’m not sure it says “B movie” to me though; usually I think of stunt men in rubber suits…

#28

Bravo, I’m loving the colors.

#29

great composition ^^
I still think that the monster’s too futuristic and creative though… like something that belong in The Abyss… but it is up to you

#30

Nice…the added war ships really set the scale of this monster!

#31

Right so not entirely sure this is worth posting, but there are subtle adjustments and basic brush clean up for this.

nothing drastic

#32

Hi everyone, i’ll keep me answers brief as i am really tired and my bed calls

Hey paul, glad you came to visit…yes i think thats a nice way to describe b movies to be honest…B as in short for bad :P…Id completely forgotten about Uni Soldier in the first place…that was bad…

Thank you for the feedback

SantoAnderson

 cheers mate, thank you very much, made my day.

Pegahoul

Absolutely agreed on that point…I did want to finish this piece in the end since the concept sketch i did of it…so once this is out of the way, we shall see ;)…Cheers for the honest feedback as usual

Yongkiat

Yea those battle ships were very enjoyable though hard to get aligned. so had to imagine a Vanishing Point for em. I used Distort tool to change the sketches about…you might see the ships slightly angular lean.

Thank you all kindly

Marley

#33

wow your comment only came thru this morning, a real time delay that one haha…but thank you yes agreed with you…I’ll finish this and move on, since there are still 50 days, it should be good

#34

light really dazzled my eyes in this picture. Very impressed

[font=Arial]Glorious work, love the light and feel of the water. Humble suggestion, to enhance the B-movie feel , maybe have the ships fight a giant horseshoe crab monster with expanded cranial area and huge glowing bug eyes powered by small flashlights, and maybe blue-crab claws (we couldn’t afford lobster). So you could have more of a B-movie feel (the crab with the putty brain) while making some cool lighting effects with the eyes…anyway best of luck and I agree what you have is a keeper.

All the best…

Hey Marley,

you’re off to a brilliant start and have already produced a poster image for a B-Movie I’d want to see. I love the way you’re creating the look of a water tank and model ships - that fits the genre perfectly. Maybe if some of those lights looked more like cheap light globes, or the hint of some strings holding the creature together or something. It’s a tough call because to do something like that somehow seems at odds with your beautiful style of illustration. So I leave it in your capable hands. But I love how it’s already looking

#37

again looks like minimal progress, but i actually experimented with blocking out most of the picture and putting in a sky. and various other tidbits, that can’t be seen here i might add…I think in the end the changes are mostly to the water

:bounce:hey cool mate, i appreciate that, thank you…now if only i can tone down the use of the word appreciate, i say that a lot

Korendo
Wow, thanks for the informative suggestion…Yea there will be a time that i will sit down and do more paint over work and try and make this more cheesy, see if i can get it to work…

many thanks 2 you, pal

mdavid

You got the effect i was after, and comes with relief i tell you. haha…the crux of it all , mark is i should not be in this position in the first place. The scribble i did was about the manipulation of water from a cool creature, that was something i settled on after i saw 2 other pieces of creatures of unusual size and strenght trambling through a city while scared denizens flocked toward the screen…as could be seen in my first concept sketch…so in essence i’m happy but i should have looked further ahead than what i did… Thank you for the thoughtfull response

Hey you 3 thanks so much.

Marley

Wow… Fantastic work. I don’t have any crits or comments on your concept, just keep working it up.

One thing I would say is that your name ‘Mollusk the Glucken’ reminds me of a character from the Oddworld series - http://oddworldlibrary.net/toe/Molluck - but that’s not really important!

Keep going, you’re ‘leagues’ (oh!) ahead

worked on water and some sky.
