B-Movie Entry: Luis Ho
It has been a busy sketching day
I had this idea of a pet that was given to a little girl on x-Mass, but it turned out to be an evil creature that multiplied and became a swarm… (scary!)
Here are my first sketches of the creatures, which I wanted it to be lizzard/dragon like.
Here’s the final concept for the image. I decided to go for a bunch of winged characters (…mmm…thinking… Gremlins meet Jurassic Park meet Hitchcock’s The Birds?).
I’m pretty happy with the elements I’m displaying here. So hoping there are not going to be any big changes to it.
I will try adjusting the composition once I start with the 3D process (angles and position of hand, creatures, poses and so on).
Photograph reference for the winged dragon. Been looking mostly at pics of dragons, iguanas and bats.
Well, using ZSpheres to create the armature for the dragon (taking care on
proportion… and considering if the shape and size of the limbs will really hold
up for a flying creature of this characteristics). Then painted zsketch spheres on
the armature for where the muscle details, wing membrane, muscles of the
creature’s face will be.
Finished texturing dragon. Added veins in the wings. Used extensive reasearch from the iguanas photos to add detail and place dark rings in limbs and tail. All polypainted with ZBrush brushes, no proyecting photographs or ready-made textures.
The tongue looks better with the dragon, or the other way round
Only 6 days to go and still loads to do AARGH! (O_o)/ Hoping nothing else comes up so can fully concentrate on this.
Started with ZSpheres and then sculpted the details. Is the only human part/bit that shows up in the poster.
