B-Movie Entry: Lorne McLean

#21

Thanks Joe, I had a lot of fun making them.

Thanks Jon. I hope I can pull this off.

Thanks Intervain.

Thanks Matthieu! Looks like Pete is receiving the most attention.

Thanks Lady Medusa, Marlin is sort of a brute. His bark is louder than his bite. Well maybe!

Hey I never thought of that, but you’re right he does look terrified. Maybe from all of the extra attention he’s receiving. It makes him nervous and very unpredictable. Thanks Alex.

Did a rough sketch to get down some ideas for composition and lighting. The thought was to have another character in the foreground shooting a piece of cereal from a spoon at the monster.

I may end up moving the camera back to include more elements. That can be done later though after some of the modeling is done. What do you think of the idea of a girl shooting a piece of cereal? Maybe there’s a better idea to be had? Suggestions welcome!

Hi Buzz
I Love the concept. It’s greattttt XD
And nice sketch and study

#24

Hey BuzzFX, Cool and funny idea. So would the FBI consider this monster a “Cereal Killer” LOL

#25

I think that the last one, even if its just a sketch, has that special lighting that makes it look completely like a B-movie poster…
@element5 - “cereal killer”, yeah, LOL!

#26

of the creatures i actually liked marlin, he looked to have something mischievous and cheeky about him, but i see pete actually translates very well…Have to admit that i thought when i saw your first concept for the cereal box, that it was actually going to be the box as the monster haha, but never the less, a fine concept sketch…

nothing comes to mind for suggestions, sorry

best of luck to you

Marley

Thanks Gislaine.

Yes, but they’d have to catch him first. lol.

Thanks Fernando. Yes I am pleased with the backlighting but I will also try different lighting setups.

#28

Thanks Marley. Initially, I was going to have the monster coming out of the cereal box, but compositionally it was not working. I may revisit the idea if I can get it to look right.

#29

Hi, really like the style in the latest concept, look forward to more

Here's another idea where the Cereal box is the monster Ha Ha Ha!:) Would love to hear which idea you feel is the stronger of the two? This one or the one above. I will change the angle of the Box Monster to be more menacing like the image above if I use this idea. HMMM. I have more ideas as to what other elements will be included in the scenes but I'd love to hear your suggestions if you have any! Thanks.

Nice sketches!
I think you could join your ideas in one. For example several box-monsters are hunting the humans and throw them into itself, and on the background there is a huge monster from a previous concept sketch that takes one box-monster and start eating humans from it.
How about it?

#32

Cool idea! I actually like the box being the “cereal killer” (he he)… maybe he could use little plastic toys to entice kids into his trap… we all know how cool they are… individually wrapped, little plastic thingymajigs made in Taiwan… gimme gimme gimme!

#33

Excellent idea !
I like your sketches and designs !

#34

Thanks jon, still working out the POV but the modeling will be starting very soon.

I like the idea of the monster throwing the humans into itself. I was going to add a bunch of monsters, but I think I want the focus to be on the main monster character with smaller characters all around.

Ha Ha trapping the kids I like it! I want the monster to look angry but sort of stupid too. Gosh what have I got myself into.

Thanks Gilles, I find sketching to be more enjoyable but modeling has it’s own appeal too!

#35

Some lights, shaders and a simple environment to get an idea of the mood for the monster. I am going to try a vertical format and try the blob monster too! Lots to do still.

Comments & Critiques welcome!

Modeling the box. Other elements (eye, arms, and scene) are in various stages of completion.

The arm for the Cereal Monster.
