Latest Update: Concept / pre-visualization: It Came From The Sea! Front study

It came from the Sea! Watch out pirates! Its coming for ya! Finally got the idea and sketch out of the way. Now the tough part is trying to bring this thing to life.
I was inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean. Although I have a few more ideas floating around in my head…this’ll be tough enough.
Watch out below! Pirates are falling! Here’s a concept of one of my falling pirates. He’s going to be in the top left hand corner. Maybe I’ll put around 12 in the scene.
Korendo- Thanks!
Andias- So his anatomy is a bit off hugh? Yeah… that big creature just smacked him 30 feet in the air…so he may have a few broken bones. I’ll fix it later.
Thanks for the crit!
Hey Greg,
Nice concept, like your approach, a pirates B-Movie sounds really cool. Good work and waiting for more updates! Cheers!!
Ferx- Thanks man! I’m pushing to get this thing finished. Now I’m getting ideas to animate it… but I’m already working on one so… that might be much.
Good luck with yours!
Yeah…I decided to do it in 3d instead of 2D.I have a few more pirates to work on. Trying to get the overall look and feel of the composition down in 2d, before I start modeling.
Yeah…I was away for awhile. Busy modeling and sketching. This is how the pirates at the bottem of the scene will get swept away by one of the creatures large tentacles. Working on the top right half of the scene right now. Still a long ways to go.
Working on the color tone for the creature, or “It”. After playing around with a few sketches… think I’ll stick with a darkish pink color for the creature. I wanted this to be a night scene…but my pirates may not show very well.
The boat is going to start with this look…but after the creature attack, its going to look a bit different.
I dont know what they really call these things, but its like a trophy or statue on the front of the ship. This one is going to be a mermaid.
Can’t have a captain without a Parrot. I did a few sketches, think I’ll stick with the gold and blue look.
Ok…enough of the sweet stuff. Now its time to pull out the monster. Here’s the face sketch of It. He’ll have a giant starfish stuck in his head. A long neck and a worm-like body, not to mention a few 50 foot tentacles quivering from its torso.
A side study of the creature amongst the ship wreckage. I’m still debating on how large the ship is going to be, in relation to It.
