Latest Update: Work In Progress: Highlights

#2

My project plan is to emulate the original Jaws movie poster.

#3

I started withspline modeling in 3DsMax

#4

I sketched this up before class to get an idea of how I was going to detail the teeth

#5

I decided to sketch out an anatomically correct shark from the side view, just to get a good feeling of its volume.

#6

My 3D modeling/animation professor, Brandon Lackey, demonstrated some advantages of starting out with a cone. So, I scrapped my spline model, and started over

#7

I sliced the cone in half, and began deforming the polygons to the contours of the shark’s face.

#8

I applied a symmetry modifier about the Z-axis.

#9

I applied a smooth modifier, and went back and forth checking the finished model as I worked.

#10

This is what the smoothed mesh looks like so far…

#11

I like JAWS just as much as the next guy, but don’t you think it would be better to create an original image by Finn? You could take the JAWS concept and portray it in a new and different light.

#12

Yeah, I gotta agree with miketche…it’s kinda hard to tell where this is going, aside from a reproduction of the original movie poster?

#13

Good start, I would bulge the eyes out some more.

#14

I like what I am seeing so far. I don’t know what you have in store for the rest but I would like to see a underwater shot with some caustics. Maybe a underwater shot looking up at the figure about to be eaten. OOOOOOoooooooooo scary. Keep it up man.

#15

Throw some razor sharp teeth on this muh ****a…

#16

To make it more of your own you could have it look like jaws already devoured a few victims. Have body pieces floating. If you can make it look like jaws is stalking the swimmer some how that would be a little more original.

#17

Looking good so far, however you really need to add in the teeth or take out the flat diamonds on the gum line area as it makes him look like a rather elderly shark

#18

Here is a test for the text placement.

#19

I spline modeled a tooth, and then added a smooth modifier.

#20

I used Photoshop to composite this image. Multiple layers of water, and oil-painted ocean allowed me to create the water.
