Latest Update: Work In Progress: The Return of the Undead Gods of Mu!!! - The Hero

My english is not very good, but i will try to do my best.
When i first saw the B-Movie CG Challenge, immediatly come to my mind images of those amazing adventure movies about lost advanced civilizations with remaining humanoids and monsters of the past, brave adventurers in a quest for gold and glory, ancient locations and the beauty exotic lady in distress.
With that inspiration, my goal is to make a piece with an epic sense of adventure, but (like a b-movie) with a humorous twist, that reminds to the ‘audience’ the innocent idea behind the plot of the ‘movie’
Some ideas for this plot: I will set the adventurers in the quest for the lost continent of Mu under the ice of Antarctica, finding the remains of an advanced civilization. But, accidentaly they awake an ancient evil: The Undead Gods of Mu and their armies!!! Now the explorers must take from them the mythic energy of Rama, before they reach the surface and destroy the world!!!
This is a detail of a fast painting in progress, showing the two main figures of the image, an evil undead mummy-sorcerer and the gorgeous and good-looking princess of Mu, the only one of the city who has not transformed in a monster. They represent the clash of forces of good and evil in a lost civilization. This is the primary focus of the image, being the other (in progress) the adventurers trying to save the princess, inside a crumbling city of rock, lava and rays of the Rama energy.
Hey Eduardo,
Really cool poster references and your concept sounds really great, like the idea a lot. Nice sketch too.
Good luck and waiting for more updates on your concept. Cheers!
Hi, i’ve been busy this days with some work, but here i am! This time i’m posting some hand-drawn skecthes, used to find the best layout for the image. The concept has too many elements, so finding a way to keep them all inside the image was a hard work. The explorers, the princess, the undead sorcerer, the city of Mu, an undead dinosaur, an undead army in battle, and an airplane where the explorers came from, are too many things!!! So, i’ve choose to keep all the bizarre and ‘easter-egg’ elements in the background and bring to the front only the main figures: the explorers, the lady and her captors. I’ve separated finally the lady from the undead sorcerer beacuse he needs to stay in a dominant position, far from the explorer hero. The lady, to the contrary, needs to look to the eyes of our romantic hero, so i bring her to a closer position with some minions of the sorcerer.
This is the final sketch!!! You can see in more detail some of the elements i’ve mentioning in the another post. The idea is to impact first, and later reveal the story behind this bizarre situation. You can see in the top and airplane crashed in the icy top of the underground city, this is the way the explorers came to the city. You can see there some explorers fighting the undead from above, while our main heroes infiltrates to the heart of the battle. This reveals the risky plan of our heroes, and so the other details. Enjoy!!!
Hi All!
This is the color base for the image. The borders aren’t accurate, the idea is only set the colors of the main areas, without shadows or lighting.
Hey Eduardo,
Really cool composition, a lot of action in it.
Great style and great characters. The color palette works well.
Waiting for more updates. Cheers!
Wow - there is a lot going on there!
Really love how exciting your composition looks. I would definitely watch this film…
This is a rough color test for the image. I forgot to mention it, i’m using the GIMP to do all the coloring, and a mouse, hahaha.
Fernando, Sergey, Alex and Melanie - Thanks for your comments!!! Really push me to do a better work for this challenge.
I’ve a little absent lately, vacations and Mass Effect 2 (OMG!!). Also i tried to do the painting without a tablet, practically a suicide mission. So, i bought one, a Genius MousePen 8’‘x6’’, and discovered what i was missed all this time, hahaha. This is a detail of the princess, with lighting and shadows. After doing the whole picture, i will work in some minor details.
Hey Eduardo,
The princess looks really cool, like the lighting on she.
Waiting for more updates! Cheers!!
Here is a image of the hero, and a ruin in the back.
I’ve been absent these days because we’ve got a major earthquake here in Chile. I was without electricity, so i couldn’t work for several days. I don’t know if i will complete the submission, because my university is recruiting professionals for the analysis of various damaged zones in the capital, and in the major affected cities. I will try to have compatible times, but is not sure. Anyways, many greetings to all the people who has followed this work.
