Just some notations of references and where some images came from.
B-Movie Entry: David Brown
Hey David,
Nice concept for sure! Like the idea
And absolutly fantastic models for the kitchen and props. Tou capture the 50´s on that kitchen, great!! Perhaps the tea package and design is a bit futuristic compared with the other elements on the kitchen, only a comment.
Great stuff. Waiting for more updates. Cheers!!
Thanks Ferx. The tea box is a attempt at an homage to a particular B-movie. You are correct though about it being futuristic in a 50’s kitchen, the movie Soylent Green came out in 1973.
I am attempting to add various objects as a “tip of the hat” to different movies and/or genre through out the scene. The success of this is yet to be seen.
Thanks again for visiting and taking the time to comment. All C&C is desired and welcome.
lol, I love the dish cleaner from the black lagoon!
those props are looking great, you have found good references and you are capturing them really well! … also, the poster you posted was looking almost finished to me… are you planning adding some dirt to some objects? I think that those white doors could look good with some aging…
Thanks elmasfeo. You asked the question that I have been pondering myself. I think on one hand the obvious thing to do would be to dirty everything up, a legitimate reason for the stench. But then I think a pristine clean kitchen being the scene of a horrific stench (which makes no sense at all) would be more in the realm of B-movie un-believability. So the answer to your question is… I have no idea as of yet.
As for the poster looking almost finished, thanks for the encouragement. I have just a couple more models and some lighting and texture tweaks before I am where I had planned to be when finished- except for the dirty/not dirty thing.
Good luck on yours.
hehe, yes I see… you still plan to add that kind of dirty smoke as the stench? the one you had in one of your first posts… I liked it, and maybe with that you don’t really need to dirty all your kitchen, and it will look more like something weird is going on, not just a regular stench, but THE stench, you know
You got some pretty great props here, browndljr! The poster looks very good as well, but I think it would be better to add dirt to the sink area or so, what would support the story , so everyone gets faster what it’s all about. It took me some time to figure out what’s happend, 'cause the centre of interest isn’t very clear. Everywhere are hints, stuff to look at , text, spots… so you got drawn from one point to another and get distracted. Just my impression, maybe it helps!
Cheers!
Thanks for the suggestions yakonusuke, elmasfeo. You both have given me much to consider. I appreciate it very much.
Looks nice man and I would also suggest that you dirt up a bit the room. Also the lighting I think needs some work as it looks to artificial right now.
Keep up the good work!
thats looking great!
The only thing I dont get is the raygun light, it looks like it was floating in the air… I just noticed
Thanks elmasfeo. I may need to tweak the lighting some in ragards to the ray gun, because it is actually on the floor with the handle leaned against the leg of the chair. I am in the process of adding some emitters to produce some “stench” gas to come from beneath the stove and fridge, and more filth around the sink. So the lighting tweak will probably be the very last thing. Thanks for the comments, they are appreciated very much!
