B-Movie Entry: Dan Osborne

I’m loving the details going into this. Just one suggestion: The overall image feels a little dark. I think you may be missing that feeling of ambient or bounce lighting, even on a controlled set there will be some ambient light. Just a suggestion. Keep it up!

@ Quality… Thanks a lot for your suggestion, I agree it is too dark, but my method is to start dark and paint lighter tones over the top gradually. I’ll get there eventually! I’m not happy with the background as it is right now, it’s looking a bit flat and the set is too small. After much deliberation I have decided to re-paint the entire background from scratch using a 3d model for reference. I want to get a more dramatic wide angle view maybe with Tim Burton style perspective, that should give the finished image the drama that seems to be missing right now.

Back to the Drawing board it is then…

Hey Dan,

That is a very funny and original concept, cool idea. The martian characters are great, and the director is awesome, like the old fashion cloths on him, cool touch.

Great work and waiting for more updates, cheers!!

Hello!
Now it’s getting better and better… I like the characters. They reminds me an old adventure game called Day of the Tentacle. Now the director is yelling for someone off the screen. You can think about adding new character to be director’s yelling target. Cheers!

getting there

This is coming along great. I was also concerned about the darkness of the image when I first saw your earlier updates but I see it’s coming along well. Rendering is great. Excellent concept!

more depth added with smoke and haze effects

Getting close to the finished image

AhAhah That’s funny I like it ! The director looks great.
I think the lighting is a bit too strong now though.

Not only humans make B-movies…
Here we are on the set of the latest instalment of the â??Manzillaâ?? Franchise directed by the enigmatic
Orsellian Squellch, an alien equivalent of Ed Wood. He writes, he directs, he acts and… he cross-dresses! During this production though, he mainly just gets angry because everything is going wrong… Itâ??s tough being a B-movie director from another world!

The tiny actor in the rubbery human costume is Antandec Robrome. He has appeared in all 9087 of Orsellianâ??s movies, mainly as the guy in the monster costume due to his small stature. This is his most challenging role so far â?? trying to squeeze his 6 tentacles into a costume with 4 limbs.

The Cameraman is Thargwin Tergurdoid. This is his first time working with Orsellian and itâ??s been an eye opening experience so far. He has a strong background in making documentaries - his most recent being about the aliensâ?? struggles with depth perception (as they have only one eye they keep walking into things and theyâ??re rubbish at sports)

The sound recordist is called Famwevvia Murtwai. Heâ??s mute and deaf in 3 of his ears but that doesnâ??t stop him from creating the unmistakable soundtracks that typify Orsellianâ??s work. His most acclaimed work has been done on Orsellianâ??s silent pictures.

Thank you to all of you who have posted comments and offered encouragement throughout this competition. It really has been a labour of love for me and to be honest Iâ??m sick of looking at it!
I hope you all like the final image!!!
