B-Movie Entry: Christian Suhr
Well, this challenge perhaps is my opportunity to honour my favorite actor. So I give it a try. As ‘Jack Dante’ he inspired my to this illustration.
This is my entry for ‘famine’. I also got some ideas for the other ones:
death - title: RIP
famine - title: KFC
pestilence - title: CR5
war - title: SOS
Actually you might help me by this. I thought about many funny stuff on wall an papers.
So I will create a dispenser something like ‘Get your free pocket Satan with every last supper!’
A postit saying ‘Never whistle while your pissing! - The MGT’.
A name sign saying ‘Hello! My name is LEGION’.
And some blood letters like ‘serve fresh’, ‘fingerfood for free’, ‘We only accept SOULS’, ‘help wanted’ and so on. If you got something additional, just let me now.
By the way, ‘pocket Satan’ would be a good merchandising article, I guess.

On goes the show!
Chris
Looks flat, but I found out that after adjusting some colour settings, the tones become the way I want them to.
I think, the headline will look somehow like this. I try to add a WiP every day. Should motivate me to fullfil this till reaching the deadline
Chris
Hello.
Wow, what a perturbing image, you are getting a very good result.
Keep on working.
Bye.
hi Christian,
very cool ideia yeah
i have two sugestions
- put the arm on the contrary to the impression of having been cut by the knife full of blood
- the knife on top of the letter c does not help at all, Maybe a little up the letters
Half the way … But you might get a clue where this voyage is goin’. SPLATTER ON!
Reminds me of ‘Army of Darkness’. A movie in which people certainly got more than about six liters of blood … far more …
This is great. I love the hidden writing all around. If you not using it already http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000374/ is a great actor for reference, looks like the guy you are drawing. In your initial sketch before rendering, he had kind of a Holloween/Michael Meyer’s Mask look to him. Coming along good. Looking forward to the final.
Well, this is based on several photographies of Brad Dourif. I mentioned some of his aliases within the text on this poster. My favorite was his acting as ‘Jack Dante’ in ‘Deathmachine’. Just gorgeous.
There are only few actors like him, who are that characteristical. Another one would be Christopher Walken by example, my second favorite actor. And recently I must admit, Robert Carlyle also got some nice attitude (not only for having acted as ‘Hitler’ or zombie). And to finish this quartett the last one is Billy Drago. I’d love to see a film with all of them together
The reason for the ‘mask look’ within my drawing is to have left the front hair out of the sketch (easier to create the hair within photoshop and to mask the face) and also leaving the eyes hollow. Looks like he got hair only on the back of his head, you know.
So, thank you for watching. No I am up to create some glasses with eyeballs
Chris
Well you captured his likeness perfectly, I recognized him immediately. My favorite bit he did, was as the son in Myst III Exile. I don’t know if you’ve played that game, but he was one of the main characters and he did a brilliant job. Funny enough, Christopher Walken is a co-star in one of my other favorite games, “Ripper”, I’m a big fan of his as well.
Well, my girlfriend is more important, but the time is ticking away
Here goes the next wip. Dispenser and glasses with eyeballs, details and so on next.
Wish me all the best to fulfill this *cough
And I just thought about an appropiate soundtrack:
John 5 - Feisty Cadavers
Scott Joplin - The Entertainer
INXS - Devil Inside
Rob Zombie - House Of 1000 Corpses
Blue Oyster Cult - Don’t Fear The Reaper
Moonspell - I’ll See You In My Dreams
M.A.N. - Blood Vanish
Slipknot - Spit It Out
Nirvana - Heart Shaped Box
Should do for the moment.
Hope you like it!
Chris
I like it, especially Brad’s expression. Colour scheme is fitting too. One thing, where his hand is holding the other hand there should be more shadow. It looks pasted right now.
It is by will alone you put your mind in motion…
That’s it for today. As mentioned I still have to do some things like shadows, the ‘Pocket Satan’ dispenser, some details and especially the uniform. But … three days to go.
The glass with the brain will be called ‘abnormal’, the hand-thing just ‘thing’. My hommage to some old movies and series.
Though this in here is a complete Photoshop-stuff-thing I was happy to found some appropiate reference for the ventilator.
And I have some additional songs for my soundtrack:
Volbeat - The Human Instrument
Rob Zombie - What (House Of 1000 Corpses already was a B-Movie
)
Louis Armstrong - Wonderful World
Metallica - The Four Horsemen … of course …
Thanks for any comments and feedback, much appreciated.
Chris
Gonna be a long night, I guess.
Uniform and dispenser still to go.
But any criticism and comments very welcome at this point.
And here some additional music stuff:
:Wumpscut: - Soylent Green
Rammstein - Weisses Fleisch
Chris
So, after seeing all those other entries I think I am not retro-B-movie enough. But, nevertheless, why not creating a contemporary B-movie artwork?!?
So, I think, the rest will be finished tomorrow. That’s it for today.
Happy Cadaver all together!
Chris
Finetuning uniform. Shadows and worn look of the dispenser. If you see something else, just let me know, only a couple of hours left.
Geronimo!!!
Chris
This gonna be my final image. Well, there would be some things I’d add like herbals within the glasses, a nice button on his uniform and stuff, but it’s time to lay the pen aside.
Chris
Well, this challenge perhaps is my opportunity to honour my favourite actor. So I give it a try. As ‘Jack Dante’ int he movie ‘Deathmachine’ he inspired me to this illustration. Some of his other aliases I mentioned on the poster’s credits. So don’t mess with Brad Dourif!
This is my entry for the B-movie contest, in this case for ‘famine’. I also got some ideas for the other ones:
death - title: RIP
famine - title: KFC
pestilence - title: CR5
war - title: SOS (or POW)
Whatever you think ‘KFC’ might me called, be it ‘Kentucky Fried Chicks’, ‘Kill Feast Cadaver’, ‘Kill Flesh Cult’, ‘Kiss FXXX Carnivore’ or whatsoever. It’s up to you. To be more precise: The scene of ‘Jack Dante’ and a rubber chicken inspired me to this fast food illustration (AND I AM A VEGETARIAN FOR ELEVEN YEARS NOW).
Well, this is based on several photographies of Brad Dourif (my initial drawing).

My hommage to some old movies and series (Mel Brook’s - ‘Frankenstein Junior’ and ‘The Addams Family’).
This would be my soundtrack for this one:
John 5 - Feisty Cadavers
Scott Joplin - The Entertainer
Rob Zombie - What
INXS - Devil Inside
Moonspell - I’ll See You In My Dreams
M.A.N. - Blood Vanish
Slipknot - Spit It Out
Live Of Agony - River Runs Red
Nirvana - Heart Shaped Box
The Fields Of The Nephilim - Last Exit For The Lost
Danzig - Belly Of The Beast
Blue Oyster Cult - Don’t Fear The Reaper
Volbeat - The Human Instrument
:Wumpscut: - Soylent Green
Rammstein - Weisses Fleisch
Louis Armstrong - Wonderful World
Metallica - The Four Horsemen … of course … this would be the song for all four ideas, connecting them, War, Famine, Pestilence, Death
By the way, ‘PocketSatan’ would be a good merchandising article, I guess.
Inspired by ‘Buddy Satan’ of the movie ‘Dogma’ and ‘Polly Pocket’
Based on a drawing of mine everything has been constructed and painted within Photoshop without any photomanipulation or repainting, though photos have been used as reference (especially those of the actor).
Original size: about 70cm x 100cm at 150dpi. Opened as a psd-file about 2.5 GB (yeah, working with many a layer).
Happy Cadaver!
Chris
