Detailed Job description and Requirements:

CG Supervisor

Overview:

Axis require a successful and experienced CG supervisor or Lead Artist to head up CG production on an upcoming Project
project details will be discussed with applicants after submission of CV and reel

The successful applicant will be required to technically interpret the project directors’ creative vision for the rest of the production team, and work closely with the Director, project management and CG team to ensure that the overall vision for the project is being effectively realised.

He/she should be a pro-active and effective problem solver who can demonstrate both a strong sense of creativity and respect for aesthetics as well as significant in-depth technical knowledge of CG production techniques and processes. Being a clear communicator is also a prerequisite

Specifically potential applicants should be familiar with character orientated modeling, rigging, animation and shading techniques as well as lighting, rendering and VFX pipelines in Maya

He/She should be able to demonstrate through examples submitted on VHS or DVD show reel significant previous experience producing CG animation and/or VFX to a high level of quality

Responsibilities:

The CG supervisor’s primary responsibilities are:

  •   Ensuring that technical pipelines for CG production tasks are properly planned and effectively implemented 
    
  •   Effectively prioritising where resources need to be focused, identifying and emphasising the critical issues 
    
  •   Supervising the Technical aspects of project production directly  
    
  •   Accurately scoping length and difficulty of tasks 
    
  •   Setting technical objectives and goals and breaking down these into process steps that can be passed to production for scheduling 
    
  •   Providing Focus, leadership and guidance to the CG team 
    
  •   Liaise with the client, the director and production team to achieve the desired look of the project 
    
  •   develop, research and implement new techniques and methodologies for the production as required 
    
  •   Quality control of the final rendered output. 
    
  •   Making sure that any issues or problems that come up during production are dealt with successfully and in a timely manner 
    
  •   Advising Sr. Production staff of any pipeline concerns and proactively designing effective solutions for potential problems
    

Additional requirements:

  •   Must be willing to relocate to Glasgow for the duration of the project. 
    
  •   Because of the short contract we are not able to process work permits, so only EU members to apply.  
    
  •   At least 3 years production experience using Maya software 
    
  •   At least 1 years production experience at a supervisory level in computer graphics related roles in the Film, Television or Interactive entertainment industries 
    
  •   Experience in Renderman preferred 
    
  •   Games industry experience preferred but not essential 
    
  • All reels must be accompanied by a detailed breakdown of the candidates involvement with each work submitted and CV
    
  • Please submit reels on DVD or VHS - web links to online reels may be acceptable if they are of high visual quality
