"Awkward" Anim - WIP

It’s just the rough blocking stage so there’s really nothing to show or say, unless you want to tell me my poses are terrible :stuck_out_tongue:

Here it is anyway:

Half way done the rough animation stage.

Nice blocking down. I’m not sure if the rig you have has facial features, but that would be a great addition to it. A lot of character animation is within the facial expressions of the character.

Nah, biped has no facial controls. I wanted to focus just on body language acting for this one though. But yea, no doubt it would have been much more believable with facial expressions.

I should have a final-ish version up on Friday. We’ll see how it turns out!

Here’s the more or less final version.

Hehehe, the end is a nice twist with the knee, the nervous twitching

I would say that in some areas, the movement is slightly too fast. The general flow of poses is nice though.

Cool, looks good. My one main critique is when he does the turn around. It happens a bit fast, as well as doesn’t have as much personality, its just a basic turn. If you were to think, “ok…(huge sigh), here I go”, and just whip around, almost having a secondary action with the leg following, I think that would really sell it. Other than that pretty nice.

Also, I found a link that has a bunch of character rigs to download for free. I’m assuming you’re using 3ds max? This rig here is free to download for 3dsmax

That way you can practice with some facial expressions. The biped is good and all for just basic movement, but its mainly just used to basic game animation loops. There’s also a lot more free rigs on that site too, I just liked this one because he’s pretty basic. Keep up the good work:)

I like what you suggested for the turn to give it more character. I’ll try that out.
Also, i’ll see if i can slow some parts down, too. Maybe it’ll add a little more tension to the situation.

Thanks for the link to those rigs. I’ll definitely check it out. I should really get around to practicing facial animation.

Thanks for the comments and compliments guys, appreciate it!
