attatching high poly to low poly

#1

hey
im trying to attatch a hand to an arm but the hand has alot more edges than the arm .
how do i do this without this happening ?

Simple: when you model the hands separately you need to make sure the wrist has the same vertex count as the arm you want to attach it to.

The hand in your model has a very high poly count while the rest of the body is very low poly. That does not really make sense.

The only other option would be to not merge the hand to the arm and use some object to hide the seam (like a wrist watch etc.).

The issue is pretty simple in fact, you have too many edges running through your hand. The simplest fix would be to just find a way to reduce some of those edges in the hand and/or increase the edge flow in the arms/body. Also keep in mind if you do plan on rigging your character or animating you should probably add the normal 3 edges around your deformation points such as elbows and wrists. A good place to kill some of those edges can be around the back of the forearm and elbow , or the bottom of the wrist where it meets the arm. After you do that you’ll have a mesh to be proud of for months to come.
