Asteroid Impact Tutorial...

#1

So I’ve FINALLY gotten around to creating a new tutorial and its part of a series. In this first part we’ll create an asteroid using just nodal displacements. No crazy new techniques in this one, just some nodal fundamentals. In later parts though we’ll do up a particle tail and eventually smash the bad boy into a planet, Bruckheimer style.

No direct link yet, but you can grab it in the tutorial section at http:www.artofsullivan.com.

Feedback on the site and the tutorial are more than welcome.

(PS, for some reason I keep calling ‘nodes’ ‘shaders’, whoops.)

I wanted to remind all that we have a new FXwars challenge, that fits well the subject of this tutorial:

CgTalk:FXWars! EARTH GO BOOM! - Challenge:19
