C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures located in downtown Toronto is seeking an Asset Supervisor to supervise all aesthetic and technical requirements for 3D characters, sets and props. Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Works closely with Production Designer/Art Director and/or Series Directors to establish the desired, yet practical aesthetic
Oversees character and sets/props modelers, texturers and riggers, assigning tasks and providing constructive daily feedback on art direction, process, technique and productivity
Demonstrates, communicates and exemplifies clear expectations for quality of work and productivity for artists
Develops general asset creation framework for current and upcoming projects in Maya and Houdini partnering with Series Directors, Production Managers, RnD and Tools Engineering team and CTO.
Streamline workflow and pipeline throughout the production cycle for each series, recommending tools development and general process improvements to increase efficiencies and maximize quality.
Oversees and performs technical QA on all modeling, rigging, and texturing.
Troubleshoot and provide guidance for solving technical problems as they arise
Generate and compile training materials for asset creation procedures and act as trainer when necessary
Manages, mentors and coaches staff including preparing annual performance evaluations to all direct reports
Recognize and develop talented artists
Actively participates in the selection of artists
Performs special projects as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum 7-10 years experience producing CG characters and locations/props
Must have at least one year of previous experience in a supervisory role (either supervisor or lead).
BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic Art or a related field
Experience with Computer programming/scripting
Minimum 1 years experience working with an Asset Management system to store, organize, and retrieve assets.
Strong working knowledge of Maya, Houdini and Renderman
Knowledge of Deep Paint, Mental Ray an asset
Experience with backend pipeline processes (lighting and rendering) is required
Demonstrate excellent abilities in sculpting, figure drawing, painting and anatomy
Excellent understanding of modeling, texturing, rigging and weighting
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work efficiently under pressure
Ability to delegate responsibility and maintain accountability
