Im quite new to Arnold and Maya as well… i’ve modeled a ceramic dish and created an HDR panorama.
The dish has a rounded gold metallic ring around its outer side which i am trying to replicate using the metalness parameter plus a texture that works as an alpha. The aim is that only this thin outer ring will appear to look like gold.
The problem is the following: The metalness alpha that i used as an input (with correct UV’s of course) works as expected on the viewport but when i hit the render button the whole dish looks metallic. It seems like the metalness alpha texture is not being applied…
Any ideas on what i might be doing wrong?
