Arnold - motion blur with ass-files

#1

Hi.

I’m confused. Just to understand that right, when exporting to ass (testing with particles and exporting from naiad at the moment) I have to make sure to enable motionblur. So far so good.

But isn´t it possible later to testrender without motion blur? Even if I disable motion blur either in the options of the standin node or in render settings - the standin always render WITH motion blur - also, the motion blur settings in globals doesnt seem to have any effect on the ass-file (shutter etc.)

Is that supposed to work like that or is somethign wrong here? (Mtoa 1.0.0, Arnold core 4.1.3.2, Maya 2013)

Thanks

We had the same with our partio reader for emp files. I used the velocity for the definition of motion keys for the particles. And if you define more than one key, motionblur is rendered - if you turn it on in maya or not. So it seems that the usage of motionblur is not a global switch as in other renderers but more hint for the renderer how to export the data.

So - yes, if you have exported ass files with motionblur, the keys are baked into the ass and the object will be blurred. And because the start/end shutter etc. is only used to define the export times, it has no effect on the ass file.

I found it quite conveniant to use the Naiad emp files directly via partio, so we could use it for krakatoa or any other renderer where we had a working point procedural.
