Arnold does not create mesh light from mesh

#1

Hi there,

I’m trying to turn a simple mesh (standard cube/sphere/torus) into a mesh light. I selected the geometry then went to arnold->lights->mesh light but nothing happend. Not even an error occured. It’s like i never even clicked the button. Script Editor shows no action as well. Tried with several new scene files, restart Maya, reboot Pc etc. Still no reaction whatsoever when trying the steps i described above.

I’m using the MtoA 1.1.2.2 demo for Maya 2015 (SP2) on a Winx64 system. Does anyone have any idea?! Would be really grateful…

Did you try just flipping the switch directly in the shape node? (arnold translator=mesh light)

It doesn’t give any feedback when you make the mesh light but if you open your mesh object’s shape tab, you’ll find the light in its Arnold section.

thanks a lot guys, I changed it into a mesh light via the arnold tab in the attributes.

I may have watched a tutorial before where an older built of arnold was used, because in the tutorial it DID give feedback when changing to light source via the “arnold->lights->mesh light”… that had me all confused.
