AO problem

Hi Guys,
I’m having problem rendering AO in Maya. As you can see, some part of my character can be smoothly rendered (which is perfect , it’s what i want), but the leg seems very facet. Any body has idea why is this happening ?

I play set the normal->soften edge, make sure normal direction point correctly, etc. But it still didn’t play and it really frustrate me :(…can somebody please tell me whats going on ?

Is it happening only with AO?

Try hitting unlock normals.

Could you post a screen grab of your AO settings?

If you’ve set the merge distance and spread to high you can get the same result with just basic primitive geo.

  1. What are your settings?

  2. Reduce them.
