Anyone can recommend a decent SLR camera?

#1

I am going for a trip to Hong Kong this xmas and I think will get a SLR digital camera, because I am only using my nokia N95 5megapixel to take my reference for my mattes at the moment.

I need something that is good at capturing true colour.

Anyone recommendation?

appreciate any advice

Depending on what your looking to spend, you may want to wait for the Nikon D90 to come out. Its about $1200 but it also does video at 720p. For a good photo reference camera, any entry level dSLR will do it. Canon has some good entry level ones. The better Nikon dSLRs have really good low light performance in the D90, D700, and D3 models.

For the best color taking bracketed exposures and creating HDR images will help you get the most dynamic range in color. Most dSLRs will do that.

Personally I have a 6.1 Megapixel Nikon D50 and it works well, Im either going to upgrade to the D90 for video or wait for Red’s Scarlet.

any chance you know a few good sites teaching the basic concept of DSLR and other stuff such as exposure, aperture, which lens to use, etc?

Look at my friends site David Hobby at WWW.Strobist.Com

As for DSLR the D90 is the way ahead at the moment. It is a awesome camera for its price.

PS I know a good photographer who does a day course in photography in Hong Kong

His name is Gaz Tyson and is at F8 photography (Bit vague what his site is called.)
Say I recommended him to you.

The D700 has superior low noise at high ISO settings, this way you can take nicer photos with truer color in dark places, and thats what capturing noise free background plates is all about. That is if price is not an issue to you. Forget about the D3 you don’t need it.

My D3 is on order! woohoo!

However I did this before the D700 appeared woops.
