I don’t do animation so I’m not sure if you can literally disable the sky for a render, although there is a ‘render only selected objects’ setting which I assume might ignore the atmo.
Setting up an all black atmosphere from the start is easy. Edit atmosphere:
Standard lighting model, under the ‘sky’ tab set your sky color map to black (or white, or whatever color you like). Turn off all clouds, fog and haze.
You can maintain your sun/light settings with a black atmo but if your animation is dependent on shadows from clouds or godrays/haze effects this won’t work for you. (obviously
