Any tips on creating this kind of dynamic joint Chain?

These rigs are from the reel of Antony Magdalinidis on Vimeo

Here are the two rigs I’m talking about:

These seem to be made of dynamic curves controlling the joint chain but I’m unable to replicate the same kind of behaviour as in these rigs. The joint chain moves as a wave and motion stops when he lets go of the parent rotation/translation.

Any idea on how to go about creating such rigs?
