Any cure for the good old - PNG LIBRARY ERROR?

Facing this issue and its pretty irritating…

Not related to a single file…
Tried re-assigning elements from scratch,
Tried restarting the pc…
No corrupted textures present…

using vray and 3ds max 2018

Any help is appreciated…

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried re exporting the PNG image from Gimp? Tried saving it as a jpg? I often find textures that have broken header files need to be resaved and reloaded (usually has nothing to do with the 3d software but the image itself). Ive had files that wont even open in photoshop and have had to use gimp to export them back out again for some technical reason Im not entirely aware of.

Hi James… Thanks for the quick reply

I have checked the textures there were a few pngs but all render / open with no problem…

When I save the render with a TIF format it is rendering correctly…

But thanks for trying to help

Oh I see you mean saving out the render causes the error, I thought you meant it pops up before you are able to render. Glad you got it solved.

No not yet solved in PNG mode…

The message comes after the render is complete while saving the files…

And this on backburner means I cannot save my renders / elements

Saving as a different format works though correct?

PNG rendering over a network has always been iffy with 3dsmax, I stopped rendering with PNGs years ago since 16bit-half float EXRs are actually smaller file size and retains more color information.

Is there any particular need for PNG?

Hey thanks for pointing me in the right direction…

I guess EXR is a better option…

Thanks
