Any Car modelling Video Tutorial?

#1

Hello everyone,

This is my first post, I’m been a Long time reader on these forum.

I have done modelling and animation and some 3d camera match moving with live footage. I am constantly learning this wonderful world of 3d.

My latest venture in modelling has been in modelling a car, I’m doing it at a nice and gentle pace, but I would like to watch how some one else models a car to better my own skills.

I have looked on this forum for free videos (car modelling) but the links are out of date since they where posted a while back.

I have also seached the net but have not yet managed to find one that I could download.

if anyone could direct me to one or even re-host one, I would be most greatful

Thanking you in advanced

Hi- you’re in luck, there are some great vid tutorials about, my pick of these are Blittzes tuts.

You can find them on 3d-palace.com . Go to vid tutorials and download for free! (you need to download a special codec as well)

My fav one is the A3 tutorial, as it has sound and the basic concepts are explained excellently.
There are also some silent ones on a concept car and a lotus elise.

Check them out

Thanks ben3000, I’ve just gone there and I’m in the process of downloading the Audio video. Sorry for the late reply, I’ve not been browsing here for a while !

Also I would like to ask, before one does a meshsmooth on your poly/mesh model, how does one dictate “soft” corners and “hard” corners, I’m sorry if that doesn’t make anysense. I’ve read somewhere that you have to make a Chamfer on lines/contours that are “hard” ?? can anyone shed any light on this matter?

Thanks in advanced

Hmm, no response, well at least I found the answer to my own question and I will post it here in the hope that someone else may benefit.

For “hard corners” during the pre-turbosmooth select one group of faces and apply a group number to it, scroll down to see the group numbers, then select the opposing faces and select a different grouping to it, then when you apply the smooth function activate the “smoothing by groups” options and volia! your hard edges will be preserved.

P.S on a slight OT why does it take so long for my post to appear after I hit the reply button, is this normal? or something with my account?

EDIT: Well, another mistry solved, this time when I hit reply it posted right away, my guess is that this must be some kind of vetting process for new users?

Hope thats helps
