Hi Folks,

As I’ve just purchased Modo 401 with upgrade to 501 when released. I thought I should come and say hi as I’ll no doubt be frequenting this forums regularly from now on. Previously, I only used Cinmea 4D for all my 3D work over the many years I have been in the creative industry. However, I got fed up with the tired modelling tools that were never updated and didn’t like having to rely on so many plug-ins to give me the functionality I required. I therefore decided to make the switch to Modo for all my modelling and possibly rendering too.

Hopefully I’ll get to speak to some of you here in the forums soon! By the way,can anyone tell me what’s wrong with the Modo forums here as they appear broken or half loaded all the time. I have visited these forums in numerous browsers and it’s always the same:

I have seen that waiting for the ads to load have caused very slow page loads at the CGSociety. For example, Doubleclick appears to have overloaded servers and pages in CG won’t load until their ads do. Buying a membership in CGSociety supposedly disables ads so that might help, but I haven’t confirmed this yet.

Look in the lower left hand of the screen when pages are having difficulty loaded and you’ll usually see the culprit that’s holding us all back.

Hmmm…i´ve no problems to open the modo forum.
I agree with you Jay about Modo. Modelling in Modo is awesome - i compare much times with cinema, maya, max.
The Renderer is also great - much easier to set up but the quality is similar with Mental Ray. With Mental Ray you must be a mathematic scientist :wink:
In 501 the Renderer is roundabout 3times faster than in 401.
I think you´ll love Modo more and more.

For me, the waits are all over the forums, not just the Modo threads. The forums are the most popular feature of the site and get the most traffic (I think).

I only have trouble with CG page loads at prime hours, nights between 8 pm and 11 pm. But whenever I do have trouble loading pages, I always see an ad waiting to be loaded.

Hi guys and thanks for the comments. I am still having trouble accessing this specific forum though and as someone with an extensive online background, can’t see why it should be such an issue here. Only half the forum is loading, so I can only see about the first 5 posts. I have posted this issue in the relevant forums but have not had any answer so far though.
