Animation Reel

#1

Hey! I just finished some animations and thought the best place to get feedback would be somewhere public and not with friends/classmates, anyway… Here is some animations I did recently, if you guys could take a minute to look at them and tell me what you think I would really appreciate it

Thanks!

Pay attention to the spine/COG action. A big thing that helps emphasize force through the spine is when the spine reverses direction. A lot of yours have very stiff spines, especially the tree chopper. The spines are just very rigid and very upright, in general.
Moving on from the rigid spines, try to emphasize and push your poses more. A lot of things could be more asymmetrical, more arced, more exaggerated. Just more. Let them be loose. Try to think of it in terms of, “if I were to pause on this frame, would it be clear what the character is doing?”
The first one on the chair has some overlap, but most of the rest are a bit lacking in overlap and offset of motion. When the man falls over in the last shot, his legs are slightly offset, but his ankles are really stiff as his legs swing up and back down. It’s also very “IK”, as his legs come up and bend at the knee, then straighten as they come down. When real limbs flop around, they typically have a very FK motion with clear overlapping action between the segments.
Generally they could do with a bit more polish, as well. I see little jitters in places throughout. Just things not travelling on arcs when they seem to have no reason not to be.
Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing more soon
Hope that helps!

Thank you! It does help a lot, yes I can see even more clearly all these things you listed after watching it again once I read your comment :stuck_out_tongue: My last teacher also said to loosen up things, guess I have to work even more on it lol, thank you again for all the notes, have a good day
