Animation into still Background

#1

Hey there! I did Combustion when I did my 3D course, but missed the lessons where they dealt with Max integration so I need a little help.

Ok, this doesnt nessesarily haveto be done with combustion, any other way of doing it will work.
I have a still that I rendered out in Max 7 using Brazil R/S, All it is is a convention stand, now I want to make a animation of people walking through it, using flat planes with people on it (from people-n-motion) but dont want to go through the whole 20 min render per frame just for the animation of people walking.

I want to make the renders seperate so it renders the scene once, and then render the animation seperate, then composite.

All help Appreciated

First of all set up the Character animations in max and and apply a Matte/Shadow to the objects that are part of the still. This will basically cut out the still objects from the walking characters so that they can pass in front of and behind the convention stand. Just make sure you are rendering to a format that supports alpha (ie tga, png, etc) and then just composite it.
